Youth Art Show and Competition created to show risks of prescription and illicit drug abuse through public works of art.
Develop community wide marketing campaign, including billboards, aimed at increasing awareness and resource for help (i.e. FAADA website)

Goals and Objectives
Action Area - Education (Awareness)
Provide the opportunity for community members to have a strong voice in decisions made by local, state and federal governments regarding the increased use and abuse to prescription and illicit drugs.
Provide an outlet for community members and organizations to be involved in advocacy activities related to the increased use and abuse to prescription and illicit drugs.
Build upon efforts in education and networking to make this voice heard
Actively advocate for Florida legislation passed for the prescription medication monitoring which is based upon effective legislation and best practices from other states.
Work in partnership with other groups on the issue - Call for Action-Rx Meds, Florida Office of Drug Control Policy (FODCP), etc.
Provide community with information on Prescription Drug Monitoring Bills, i.e. Talking Points from FODCP.
Use network to disseminate information and build advocacy network for legislation
Assist in development of Advocacy Tool-kit for community members to reach legislators, newspapers and other means to show support and need
Explore need for Federal Legislation regarding the increased use and abuse to prescription and illicit drugs, and develop a plan accordingly.
Regulation of Internet Pharmacies
Regulation or Abolition of Advertising for Prescription Medication
Advocate for effective community treatments for addiction
Explore a range of treatment programs to identify those which are “Best Practice Models” and have relevance to the problems faced by persons with addiction in our community.
Participate in organizations such as Sarasota Mental Health and Substance Abuse Stakeholder’s Consortium and Manatee County Substance Abuse Coalition, to provide a community voice, and advocate for additional and alternative programs which have been shown to be effective elsewhere. This may include services which are not within the “norm” of current service provision, but have demonstrated proven effectiveness in similar communities.
Action Area - Networking
Help to create a strong network of individuals and organizations to enhance efforts at creating necessary cultural changes to reduce the impact to the community from the increased use and abuse to prescription and illicit drugs.
Identify ways to connect to other organizations locally, regionally, state-wide and nationally which are community driven and have a shared mission
Participate in meetings, conferences, etc which help link efforts of communities
Actively serve as a founding partner of “Call for Action-Rx Meds”
Provide information for e-news letters and help build reader base
Work on Fall and Spring Forums
